Adani Green Energy committed to become 'net water positive' by 2025-26

Ahmedabad, 16 March (IANS). The country’s largest renewable energy company Adani Green Energy said on Sunday that it is committed to being ‘net water positive’ in FY 2025-26. For this, the company will reduce its consumption of clean water and emphasize the recycling of water.

The company has already formed ‘net water positive’ at operating locations with a capacity of more than 200 MW in FY 2022-23 and its goal is to implement robotic cleaning to stop using freshwater for cleaning solar modules on all upcoming projects.

In renewable energy sector, water is greatly required for tasks such as solar panel maintenance.

Adani Green Energy, the country’s largest renewable energy company with more than 12.5 GW of operational assets, is a pioneer in water management.

The company’s roadmap includes several strategic initiatives such as rainwater harvesting, water conservation and community participation to realize the goal of achieving water sustainability.

The company said that it has reduced the use of water rapidly and has contributed to rejuvenating water resources in areas such as Khawda, Jaisalmer and Kutch, which is facing water crisis.

Last year, the company saved 3,47,310 kiloliter water through robotic cleaning, which is equal to the water consumption of 15.8 lakh houses.

Adaani Green Energy has successfully implemented robotic technology for cleaning about 43.5 percent of its total operating capacity for cleaning photovoltaic (PV) module.

The company of Adani Group has implemented a green technology that collects water from moisture in the air to eliminate the use of plastic bottled water along with meeting the requirements of drinking water.

This innovative solution provides fresh, clean and clean drinking water which is in line with international water safety standards. Also eliminates the use of plastic and reduces carbon emissions.
