Ahmedabad, 3 June (IANS). The month of May has been historic for the country’s logistics sector. Adaani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) set a new benchmark of 4.18 million tonnes of cargo handling, showcasing the country’s capacity on global standards, which is an all -time record for the company.
The 17 percent increase compared to the previous year is not just a figure – it is a proof of a strong foundation for the development of rapidly developing economic structure and infrastructure in the country.
The main driver containers of the great performance of Adani Ports were container traffic (an increase of 22 percent on the basis of year-on-year) and dry cargo (year-on-year increase of 17 percent).
When global port companies are struggling with recession and geopolitical uncertainties, APSEZ has not only maintained stability, but also expanded rapidly.
The company has handled a total of 7.93 million tonnes of cargo handling till May this year, which shows an increase of 10 percent year-on-year. The 21 percent increase in container handling highlights the operational efficiency and technological upgradation of APSEZ.
In May, Adani Logistics recorded a 0.6 lakh TEU rail volume (year-on-year growth) and 20.1 lakh tonnes of GPWIS (General Purpose Wagon Investment Scheme) volume (year-on-year-to-four percent increase).
So far this year, the rail volume was 1.2 lakh TEU (15 percent increase on year-on-year basis) and GPWIS volume 38 lakh tonnes. This clearly indicates that the company’s strategic focus on multi-model logistics infrastructure is showing solid results.
Other major ports of the country – such as JNPT and Paradip Port – recorded an increase of about seven percent and nine percent respectively in May. At the same time, APSEZ gained an edge with a jump of 17 percent, indicating its lead on competition.
Adani Ports is not only the country’s largest private port operator; It is also becoming a pillar of the country’s global trade strategy. The role of APSEZ is going to be even more important. The company is shaping the future of logistics through the multimodal hub, smart port, green energy and digital tracking systems.
The May data shows a glimpse of the changes in the country’s logistics and infrastructure sector. Adani Ports have proved that India can not only become self -sufficient when strategy, investment and innovation work together, but can also play the role of leadership in the global supply chain.
