New Delhi, 13 June (IANS). In view of the tragic accident of Air India flight AI-171 in Ahmedabad, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) on Friday announced immediate measures to reduce the financial burden on the families of the victims.
The insurer said that he would accelerate the disposal of claims and would give several concessions to assist the affected families.
The LIC expressed deep grief over the death of the people on the ground at the time of the incident, including the passengers killed in the accident, the crew members.
The company said in a statement, “Life Insurance Corporation of India expresses deep grief over the death of passengers of Air India and crew members of AI-171 of Air India and people on the ground at the time of the accident.”
The insurer assured that he is fully committed to assisting the affected people and will accelerate the disposal of claims to provide financial relief.
LIC has introduced several special concessions to help the families of the victims easier the claim process.
The statement said, “In lieu of death certificate, the death of the policyholder due to a plane crash will be accepted as evidence of any evidence or any compensation paid by the Central/State Government or airline officials.”
LIC also said that all efforts will be made to reach the claimants and ensure early disposal of claims.

Private insurance company Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance also announced special measures for its policyholders affected by the accident.
The company has set up a dedicated claim settlement desk to prioritize the deaths and disability claims of the affected people.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the accident site on Friday and also met the injured victims at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital.
