New Delhi, 12 June (IANS). Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner is known all over the world for its advanced technology and fuel efficiency, but in the last several years it has also revealed many technical and safety problems.
After the Air India flight AI 171 crash in Ahmedabad on Thursday, questions have been raised about this aircraft once again.
The flight from Ahmedabad to London was riding 242 people, out of which 10 were crew members.
Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner is used on a large scale by the world airlines for long-distance international flights and is considered a modern and efficient aircraft, but it has many security concerns.
In 2013, all the aircraft of the Dreamliners model were stopped globally from flying after the incidents of fire in the lithium-ion battery. Japan Airlines jet caught fire due to flaws in Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.
Due to these incidents, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) postponed the operation of Dreamliner until Boeing re -designed the battery system.
In 2024, Boeing again came under investigation when Sam Salehpur, an engineer and whistleblower, allegedly told the US Senate about the structural problems in the body of Dreamliner.
He claimed that small gaps and inappropriate assembly may have quickly conversion and potential structural malfunctions. The FAA started an investigation, which is still on.
Even after all these flaws, Boeing has propagated it as a modern aircraft.
In March this year, Boeing 787–9, run by Latum Airlines, suddenly declined during the flight, injuring 50 people. The reason for this was later explained in the cockpit seat malfunction.
Over the years, pilots have also reported problems such as snow freezing, fuel leakage, generator and power system malfunction.
According to data from Flightradar 24, the crashed aircraft took its first flight in 2013 and was handed over to Air India in January 2014.
The causes of aircraft accident in Ahmedabad are still being investigated by the Directorate General of Air India and Civil Aviation (DGCA).
