Air India’s first old Boeing 787 aircraft will go for retrofit of new seats and entertainment systems in April.
Tata Group’s airline Air India has given a good news, while bad news has also been given. Indeed, Air India will operate more flights on the routes of Britain (UK), Europe, Far East Asia and Africa from March 30. The airline gave this information on Thursday. According to PTI news, however, the airline also stated that it would discontinue Mumbai-Melburn and Kochi-London Gatvic services due to a decrease in temporary operating fleet between the old Boeing 787 aircraft retrofit program. Air India’s first old Boeing 787 aircraft will go for retrofit of new seats and entertainment systems in April. The aircraft fleet is expected to be back in October this year.
Flights will be effective from March 30 to October 25
According to the news, Air India is already running in losses. The airline has launched an ambitious change scheme, which has more than 60 wide-bodies aircraft including Boeing 777 and 787. Air India is going to increase the number of flights on these routes for the effective Northern Summer Program from 30 March to 25 October this year. A350-900 and upgraded B787-9 aircraft operated on the Delhi-London Heathro route “3x Weekly Flights, 21x will increase from 21x to 24x Weekly Flights”.
The number of flights will increase on these routes
According to the news, Air India will increase the number of week flights from 3 to 4 on Amritsar-Bermingham and Amritsar-London Gatwick route, while the weekly flights on Ahmedabad-London Gatwick route will be increased from 3 to 5. In Europe, the airline will operate five weekly services from the existing four -week flights from Delhi to Zurich. Three to four weekend flights will be increased on the Delhi-Viana route. Weekly flights will be increased from 4 to 5 on the Delhi-Siol route. The B787 will switch from A321 to B787 Dreamliner on 7 Weekly Flights on the Delhi-Hong Kong route. Weekly services on Delhi-Narobi route will be increased from 3 to 4.
The company will suspend the service on this route till further orders
Due to a temporary reduction in the retrofit program and as a result, the airline will suspend its non-stop Mumbai-Milburn Service between March 30 to September 13, 2025 and the non-stop Kochi-London Gatwick route from 30 March 2025 will be suspended until further orders. . Air India is taking an opportunity to update other elements of the interiors of B777 as before the full retrofit program during 2025. According to the airline, modernization of its narrow body aircraft is moving well and will be completed by mid -2025.
