The central government has announced to cover all senior citizens above 70 years of age under the PM Jan Arogya Yojana (Ayushman Bharat Yojana). With this, all senior citizens above 70 years of age in the country will start getting free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh every year.

But now all senior citizens above the age of 70 years will get the benefit of this scheme, whether they are from a poor family or a rich one and no matter how much their income is. With this decision of the government, 6 crore senior citizens across the country will get the benefit of the scheme.
You will be able to avail free treatment worth Rs 5 lakh
After an important cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav announced to cover all senior citizens above the age of 70 under the PM Jan Arogya Yojana. He said, “It has been decided to cover our senior citizens above 70 years of age under the universal health coverage, Ayushman Bharat PM Jan Arogya Yojana. This is a very big decision. There is a great humanitarian thought in this decision. They will get free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh and this will cover about 4.5 crore families of the country, which will include about 6 crore senior citizens.”
Cashless treatment facility will be available in hospitals
Under PM-JAY, the beneficiary gets cashless facilities in the hospital. The aim of PM-JAY is to reduce the cost of treatment. Under this scheme, the entire expense is covered up to 3 days before hospitalization and 15 days after hospitalization.
