New Delhi, Sep 5 (IANS) E-commerce company Amazon on Thursday said it is on track to export over $13 billion from India by the end of the year.
The company said that under the ‘Amazon Global Selling’ programme launched in 2015, 1.5 lakh exporters have sold over 40 crore ‘Made in India’ products to customers across the world.
There was a 20 percent increase under this program last year.
Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Jayant Chaudhary said that promoting MSME exports is important for the economic growth of our country and e-commerce is proving to be a powerful catalyst in this regard.
The Minister said, e-commerce exports are taking place across the world through programmes like ‘Amazon Global Selling’.
The company said the programme involves sellers from over 200 cities. It is enabling sellers to build global brands by selling to millions of customers on over 18 Amazon global marketplaces in multiple countries.
According to Bhupen Wakankar, Global Business Director, Amazon India, they are investing in tools and technologies to help sellers expand their reach and sales.
“Amazon is committed to achieving $20 billion in e-commerce exports from India by 2025,” he said.
The Minister said that entrepreneurs in districts, cities and small towns of the country have huge potential for e-commerce exports.
“With the right policies and an enabling ecosystem, we can empower these entrepreneurs and establish India as a leading export nation,” Choudhary said.
Maharashtra, Delhi, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Karnataka have emerged as the maximum exporting states in this programme.
