Earlier, China retaliated on the US threat to impose an additional 50 percent tariff, saying that if the US is intent on tearing a tariff war or trade war, China is ready to fight till the end. Tariff collection will start from April 9
White House Press Secretary Caroline Lewit confirmed on Tuesday that 104% of tariffs imposed on China would be effective from 12 noon (EST) today, as China failed to remove its 34% counter -counterfeit tariffs for a deadline. The tariff collection will begin on 9 April. Earlier, Trump had threatened on Monday that if Beijing does not lift his retaliatory fee on American goods till Tuesday, he would increase the current fee on China by 50% on Wednesday. On the same day, Trump said that China would have to face 12 o’clock deadline to remove its fee. On the other hand, Beijing vowed that it would not eliminate its 34% retaliation fee.
