New Delhi. The country’s largest dairy brand Amul is now going to start its business in America also. This means that now people living in India as well as America will be able to taste Amul milk. Amul’s main company Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation will be the first dairy brand in the country to start business in America.

Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) has signed a deal with America’s 108-year-old dairy Michigan Milk Producers Association to sell Amul brand milk in America. GCMMF Managing Director Jayen Mehta announced this in the annual meeting of the cooperative. This is the first time that Amul brand’s fresh milk range is being launched outside India in markets like America. There is a large population of Indian origin community in America.
Amul will sell milk in the US in one gallon (3.8 litre) and half gallon (1.9 litre) packaging. In America, only Amul Gold brand with 6 percent fat, Amul Shakti brand with 4.5 percent fat, Amul Taaza with 3 percent fat and Amul Slim brand with 2 percent fat will be sold. These brands will currently be sold in the East Coast and Mid-West markets. It is noteworthy that Amul (Anand Cooperative Milk Producers Union), was established on December 14, 1946 in Anand, Gujarat as a dairy i.e. milk products cooperative movement. Which soon became a household brand which is promoted and distributed by Gujarat Cooperative Milk Distribution Union. Today many milk products of Amul including milk, curd, butter, cheese, ice cream etc. are used in every household in India.
