Mumbai, 16 June (IANS). Ashish Kumar Chauhan, Managing Director and CEO of National Stock Exchange (NSE), thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday for appreciating the agreement between NSE and Cyprus Stock Exchange in Gujarat International Finance Tech-City (Gift City).
At the Business Roundable Meeting in Cyprus, PM Modi underlined the Gift City as an emerging global financial hub.
In a post on social media platform ‘X’, Chauhan wrote, “Thank you Prime Minister Narendra Modi for appreciating the agreement between the Business Community in Cyprus and the agreement between Cyprus Stock Exchange-NSE International Exchange in Gift City.”
PM Modi welcomed the cooperation between NSE International Exchange (NSE IX) and Cyprus Stock Exchange in Gift City and encouraged tourism cooperation. Also appreciated the formation of the Indo-Cyprus-Gris Business and Investment Council as an important step towards strong economic relations.
Highlighting India’s rapid economic growth and immense possibilities at the India-Cyprus CEO Forum, Prime Minister Modi said that India has become the fifth largest economy in the world and is now on the way to become the third largest global economy soon.
Prime Minister Modi said, “India has become the fifth largest economy in the world in the last decade and in the near future we are moving very fast towards becoming the third largest economy in the world. Today India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world and the country has a clear policy.”
Prime Minister Modi highlighted the focus of the country on India’s growing economic strength and future infrastructure development.
Prime Minister Modi also highlighted the expansion of focused areas including new manufacturing missions, marine and port development, shipbuilding and rapidly growing citizen aviation.
According to an official statement, NIPL (NPCI International Payments Limited) and Eurobank Cyprus have agreed to start UPI for cross -border payment between the two countries, which will benefit tourists and businesses.
