The 2 -day ‘Advantage Assam 2.0’ Business Summit, which started on Tuesday in Guwahati, ended on Wednesday. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Vishwa Sharma said on Wednesday that the state has received an investment proposal of about Rs 5 lakh crore. Those who announce the investment include veteran groups like Reliance, Adani, Vedanta and Tata Group. At the closing ceremony of the Assam Business Summit, State Chief Secretary Ravi Kota said that about 270 agreements worth Rs 2.75 lakh crore were signed between the state government and different companies. After the end of the event, the Chief Minister wrote on social media, “Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit 2025 has made an investment commitments of a total of Rs 4,91,500 crore.”
Proposals accepted only after investigation
The Chief Minister said that the state government received investment proposals ranging from Rs 6 to 7 lakh crore, but after their proper investigation, all the proposals were not accepted. After the closing ceremony, Sharma said after the closing ceremony, “Our officials investigated all the proposals and proceed only on the proposals that can be taken in the next three-four years.” He said that the Assam government pays more attention to quality than quantity and getting such a big investment proposal is a ‘decisive moment’ for the state. The Chief Minister said, “There will be a different journey to Assam and it will be a significant contribution in India’s scenario.”

He said that hydrocarbons, mines and renewable energy attracted the most investment while important investment proposals have also come in agriculture and horticulture sectors. The Chief Minister said that the journey has started towards becoming a ‘contributor’ state from the state with the summit. He said that Assam achieved a growth rate of 19 percent in the year 2023, while crime rates declined by 66 percent. The CM said that Tata’s semiconductor unit and NRL’s Bio-Riffine Unit are one of the projects pursuing the development saga of the state.
The country’s ability to become ‘concert’ capital in Assam
CM said that the state also has the ability to become the ‘concert’ capital of the country. Apart from this, there is a lot of potential for Assam in the field of medical and tourism. Kota said that the total investment proposals include announcements of Rs 1.25 lakh crore made by industrialists like Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani and Rs 78,000 crore in government companies in the development of infrastructure. The Chief Secretary said that the summit was attended by heads of 67 embassies, representatives of 76 countries, 12 bilateral agencies and 9 partners. He said, “More than 200 foreign representatives participated and more than 2100 people came from different parts of the country. Overall, 14,500 people attended a two -day conference. ‘
