New Delhi, 3 May (IANS). The Confederation of All India Traders (CAT) on Saturday welcomed the government’s move to ban the direct or indirect imports of all the goods imported or exported from Pakistan with immediate effect.
A notification issued by the Ministry of Commerce states, “The direct or indirect imports or transit of all the items made in Pakistan or Pakistan, whether freely importable or otherwise permission, will remain restricted to the next order with immediate effect.”
CAT general secretary and BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal said, “This decision gives a strong and clear message that trade and economic engagement with continuous enmity and anti -India activities from across the border cannot continue.”
Khandelwal said that the step is not only in line with national security interests, but also shows the spirit of the business community and the citizens of India, seeking strict action against economic relations with countries that have long supported terrorism.
By stopping all trade and transit of Pakistani goods, the government has demonstrated its strong commitment to protect national sovereignty and security.
According to the official notification, the ban has been imposed in the interest of national security and public policy and any exception to this ban will require prior approval of the Government of India.
CAT National President B.C. Bhartia urged all traders across the country to fully support and comply with this policy and ensure that no goods from Pakistan should enter the Indian markets directly or from the back door.
The business body representing the interests of small and medium -sized businesses, traders and entrepreneurs across the country said, “Cat repeats his resolve to stand shoulder to shoulder with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the government in efforts to protect India’s national interests and promote self -reliance through self -reliance India.”
It called Indian manufacturers and entrepreneurs to take advantage of the opportunity to strengthen domestic production and create an alternative to any goods imported before Pakistan, which will promote indigenous industry and create new opportunities for employment and development.
