According to RBI, banks will remain closed on May 16 in various regions of India due to Buddha Purnima festival. Banks will also remain closed on the second Saturday which is 14th May and will remain closed on Sunday (15th May) as usual. This is the only long weekend for banks this month. Banks are generally closed on every Sunday of the month. At the same time, the second and fourth Saturdays are also holidays.

Different rules for all states
According to the list of holidays given on the official website of RBI (Bank Holidays List 2022), banking holidays also depend on the festivals celebrated in different states or the notification of special occasions in those states. All these holidays will not be applicable in all the states.

May 14 – Second Saturday of the month- This day will be a holiday for bank employees.
15 May – Sunday – Weekly Holiday
May 16 – Banks in Agartala, Belapur, Chandigarh, Bhopal, Dehradun, Jammu, Kanpur, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla, Srinagar will remain closed on account of Buddha Purnima.
