Business News Desk, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has prepared a list of at least 12 holidays for November 2024. These holidays include religious festivals and regional events, Sundays, weekends and other reasons. Bank holidays vary from state to state across India. To know when the banks in your area will be closed, you will have to contact the local bank branch.
Next week in the month of November, customers of many states will have to be prepared for a long weekend and four consecutive working days for banks. The reason for these holidays is due to Chhath Puja (7 and 8 November), Second Saturday (9 November) and Sunday (10 November).
For Chhath Puja, 7th November has been declared a holiday in Bihar, Delhi, Jharkhand and West Bengal. On November 8, banks will remain closed in Bihar, Jharkhand and Meghalaya for the morning Arghya and Wangala Mahotsav related to Chhath.
All public sector and private banks across India, including State Bank of India (SBI), observe a holiday on every second and fourth Saturday of the month.
For cash emergencies, all banks continue to operate their online websites and mobile banking service apps irrespective of weekends or other holidays. Bank customers may not be informed for special reasons. You can use ATM of any bank for cash withdrawal.
The complete list of bank holidays in November 2024 is as follows. November 3 (Sunday): Banks in all Indian states and union territories (UTs) will remain closed for Sunday. November 7 (Thursday): Banks will remain closed in some states including Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand on the occasion of Chhath (Evening Arghya). November 8 (Friday): Banks will remain closed in some states like Bihar, Jharkhand and Meghalaya on the occasion of Chhath (Morning Arghya)/Wangla festival. 9 November (Saturday): Second Saturday. 10 November (Sunday): Sunday.
November 15 (Friday): Banks will remain closed in some places, such as Mizoram, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Hyderabad-Telangana, Arunachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu, on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti/Kartika Purnima/Rhasa Purnima. Uttar Pradesh, Nagaland, Bengal, New Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh and Srinagar. 17 November (Sunday): Banks will remain closed on Sunday. 18 November (Monday): All banks will remain closed in Karnataka on Kanakdas Jayanti. November 23 (Saturday): Banks will remain closed in Meghalaya on the occasion of Seng Kutsnem. Additionally, November 23 is the fourth Saturday. 24 November (Sunday): Will be closed on Sunday.
