His father, Dhirubhai Ambani, was a small businessman, but laid the foundation of Reliance in 1966 with big dreams. Mukesh was educated at Hill Granz High School in Mumbai and then he got a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT). He later had an MBA at Stanford University, USA, but returned to India in 1981 and joined the business with his father.

Petrochemicals sector was emerging in India in the 1980s, and from here Mukesh Ambani’s business trip began. He converted Reliance into petrochemicals and refining from textile company. The Jamnagar refinery, which today is the world’s largest refining unit, reflects Ambani’s thinking and his attitude towards the scale.

Challenges also came but stood up
Along with great achievements, disputes and challenges also came in the way of Mukesh Ambani. Despite separation, spectrum dispute, petroleum pricing dispute with Anil Ambani in Reliance Group, Mukesh Ambani stood on his duty path. His biggest strength was that he never responded to public reactions to criticisms, but responded to the results. Today, the results are in front of everyone. Mukesh Ambani’s sting is ringing all sides.
