BJP denied Congress’s claim on manufacturing sector, exports to job opportunities increased

New Delhi, 8 February (IANS). Refuting the Congress claims on manufacturing, the BJP said that the average growth rate of the country’s manufacturing sector between 2009 and 2014 was only 5.6 percent. It was negative 0.7 percent in 2013-14 as compared to 2012-13.

The factory issued by the BJP to refute the claims of the Congress stated that the country has remained the fastest growing economy in the world since Corona.

The Congress had claimed that the growth rate of manufacturing from 2013-14 was only 5.8 percent on average, while the NDA had targeted a growth rate of 12–14 percent.

According to the BJP factories, “Manufacturing in the gross domestic product in the year 2012-13 had come down from 15.7 percent to 15.2 percent in a year and then decreased to 14.9 percent in 2013-14.”

Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme has increased investment in the country’s manufacturing sector and an FDI investment of $ 165.1 billion has come, which is 69 percent more than FDI investment in the UPA reign.

The BJP further said that in December 2024, India’s electronics exports have reached $ 3.58 billion. Apple has exported $ 12.8 billion iPhone in 2024, which shows progress in the country’s manufacturing.

BJP said that at present, 99.2 percent of mobile phones sold in the country are being manufactured at the domestic level. The annual production has reached 325-330 million units.

The PLI scheme has proved to be a game-changer for the country’s manufacturing sector.

The PLI scheme brought for 14 major sectors with a outlay of Rs 1.97 lakh crore is promoting manufacturing development. The sales of telecom equipment have crossed Rs 50,000 crore under the PLI scheme.

India’s manufacturing PMI crossed the 16 -year highest level of 59 points in February 2024, which confirms a stable expansion, unlike the continuous contraction under the UPA.

The BJP said that the strong manufacturing sector in the NDA successfully crossed Kovid’s challenges and moved forward. The manufacturing sector has produced an additional jobs in the manufacturing sector by 2022-23 compared to 2018-19 (pre-epidemic level).
