Aman Gupta and Piyush Goyal
Aman Gupta, co-founder of electronics equipment ‘boat’, has supported the recent remarks of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal on Indian startup companies. Goyal recently said that Indian startup companies need to pay more attention to innovation related innovation rather than delivering grocery items. Gupta posted a post on ‘X’ amid the debate on social media platforms about this suggestion of Goyal.
‘Union ministers are not against founders’
In his post, Gupta said that startup firms should move beyond consumer-focused models such as food delivery and online gaming and should prefer technology like AI, robotics and quantum computing. Gupta said, “It does not happen every day that the government would ask the founders to dream big. But the same thing happened in the startup Mahakumbh. There I heard his full speech. Honorable Minister is not against the Founders. He believes in us. He was straightforward to say that India has gone far ahead, but we have to keep high goals to lead the world.”
Focus on high technology sectors
Goyal told the Indian startup community during the inauguration of ‘Startup Mahakumbh’ on Thursday to remove his focus from making grocery supply and ice cream and focus on high technology sectors like semiconductor, machine learning, robotics and AI. His statement has been opposed by several startup founders including Jepto’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Adit Palicha, Joho founder Sridhar Vembu and Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma.
