Assessment of reduction of more than Rs 1 per unit in tariff
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced in January last year that the Punjab government had bought a 540 MW private thermal power plant in Goindwal Sahib for Rs 1,080 crore. This power plant was earlier owned by GVK Power. Sri Guru Amardas thermal power plant located in Punjab is a coal -based power project. The project is currently active. After the first construction, the plant was operational in April 2016. This power plant was developed by GVK Power (Goindwal Sahib). It is currently owned by the Punjab government, which holds 100% stake in it. It is a steam turbine power plant.
This is the first time this happened
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann then said that this is the first time that a private power plant is being purchased by the government. This power plant costs Rs 2 crore per MW, which is the cheapest purchase in the country. Mann also said that for the first time it has started the opposite trend that the government has bought a private power plant, while the previous governments in the state used to sell properties at ‘very low’ prices to the favorite persons.
Power plant is spread on 1,100 acres of land
The Punjab State Electricity Corporation Limited (PSPCL) bid for the 540 MW private thermal power plant at Goindwal Sahib to take control of its control. This heat power plant of 540 MW is an independent power plant and is spread over 1,100 acres of land in Goindwal Sahib in Tarn Taran. After being purchased by the government, the name of this power plant has been named after the third Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Amardas Thermal Power Plant.
Assessment of reduction of more than Rs 1 per unit in tariff
Coal obtained from Pachwara coal mine can only be used for government power plants, so this coal can be used for power generation by purchasing this power plant, so that electricity can be provided to every region of the state. At the time of shopping, the government said that this purchase will reduce more than Rs 1 per unit in total tariffs and this will save Rs 300-350 crore on power purchase, which will benefit the consumers of the state. With the acquisition of this plant, three government and two private thermal plants are now operating in the state.
