Gandhinagar, 27 February (IANS). Mona Khandar, Principal Secretary, Science and Technology of Gujarat, said on Thursday that strong semiconductor and electronics system design and manufacturing (ESDM) sector has the ability to change India’s economy, increase innovation and strengthen national security.
Giving information to the media about the 19th edition of the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) Vision Summit, starting from 5 March in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, Khandar said that the three -day semiconductor summit will play an important role in developing a strong semiconductor ecosystem in India.
The objective of this event is to attract global investment and strengthen India’s position in the semiconductor industry.
The theme of this summit is ‘Silicon Gujarat: Strength of India’s Semiconductor Revolution’.
Starting next month, this summit will focus on attracting global investment, integrating local industries in a global supply chain and promoting skill development in semiconductor manufacturing.
“The Semiconductor Summit will be an important platform to bring together global investors, industry leaders and policy makers together,” he said.
The event will be inaugurated by Union IT, Communication and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
Several initiatives are also expected to be announced with the support of the state and central government for the sector at the Semiconductor Summit.
Several important agreements will be signed during the summit, including an agreement made by Micron, which will confirm its commitment to global environment, health and safety standards while conducting responsibly in Gujarat.
The event will have more than 1,500 representatives including top government officials, industry leaders, MSMEs, startups and academic experts to shape the future of India’s semiconductor and electronics industry.
Representatives will also get an opportunity to visit emerging semiconductor clusters in Dholera and Sanand, who are expected to be a major center in India’s semiconductor Ecosystem.
