New Delhi, May 11 (IANS). The Confederation of All India Traders (CAT) on Sunday said that it was organizing a national conference next week by e-commerce and quick commerce companies in India amid growing efforts to occupy retail trade worth over Rs 140 lakh crore annually Rs 140 lakh crore.
More than 100 major business leaders from across the country will participate in this program to be held on 16 May. The conference may be the main speaker of former Union Minister Smriti Irani.
CAT general secretary Praveen Khandelwal said that the conference will not only include business leaders, but also supporters of indigenous products, transport, small scale industries, MSMEs, consumer organizations, women entrepreneurs, farmers, startups, employees and other parties of business.
It was informed by CAT that an integrated strategy would be prepared in this conference to highlight the malicious agenda of foreign funding companies and a nationwide campaign will be launched against them.
CAT national president BC Bhartia said, “Trade and industries of various sectors are coming on one platform to directly challenge these companies.”
He said that these companies have already suffered heavy damage to many major sectors like mobile and accessories, FMCG, consumer durables, grocery, electronics, toys, apparels, shoes, foods, restaurants and hotels and are now trying to capture more areas of the Indian market.
Bhartia further said that the time has come to protest the immoral trading practices of these companies to protect the integrity of India’s retail trade and freedom.
According to CAT, strategies stated during the discussion of this conference will be a decisive step towards launching nationwide awareness and protest campaign.
CAT, who claimed to represent more than 90 million small businesses across the country, said that it aims to strategy and organize a nationwide movement against the alleged immoral and illegal practices of these e-commerce companies.
