The fight between the Center and non-BJP states may once again increase over the cut in the prices of petrol and diesel. On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had raised the point in a meeting with the Chief Ministers that even after the request of the Center, many state governments had not reduced their share of VAT. There has been a sharp reaction from the states on this statement. Center is incurring loss due to cut in prices
A person aware of the data available with the government said that due to reduction in excise duty on petrol and diesel, the central government is incurring a loss of Rs 8,700 per month. From November 2021 to March 2022, VAT of oil has been cut, their total revenue was Rs 15,696 crore. In which BJP ruled states alone have left Rs 11,398 crore.
Petrol-Diesel fight again!
Tax on petrol and diesel is once again becoming a political issue. After the appeal of the Prime Minister, it has been counterattacked by the Congress. According to Congress, the central government has earned Rs 26 lakh crore in the last eight years. Crude oil and gas prices have seen a jump in recent months due to volatility around the world.
7 states did not cut
Even after the reduction in excise duty by the central government, according to a person monitoring the government data, 7 states had not reduced their share of VAT. These states have earned Rs 11,945 crore through VAT since November.
