New Delhi, 21 June (IANS). The Central Government on Saturday launched an innovative ‘start-up challenge’ with prize pool of Rs 2.3 crore to promote innovation in the country’s Rooftop Solar (RTS) and Distributed Renewable Energy (DRE) technology.
The objective of this unique National Innovation Challenge is to identify and support successful solutions for RTS and DRE ecosystem of India.
The challenge is being implemented with the cooperation of the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and the coordination of DPIIT.
Selected innovators will compete for a total of Rs 2.3 crore prize. In this, Rs 1 crore will be given under the first place, Rs 50 lakh for second place and 30 lakh rupees for third place. In addition, 10 consolation prizes of Rs 5 lakh will be given.
According to the statement of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, the winners will get incubation support, experimental implementation opportunities and guidance from domain experts and investors.
The last date for application is 20 August and the results will be declared on 10 September.
Start-up challenge invites applications from innovators and startups in India. It focuses on four major categories of virtue, flexibility, inclusion and environmental sustainability to promote renewable energy.
Under the vigor, focus will be on making the roofing solar affordable using innovative finance, modular systems and circular economy strategy for lower and medium -income families.
Under the flexibility, there will be focus on increasing climate flexibility, grid stability and cyber security in solar infrastructure under solar infrastructure.
Under the inclusion, there will be a focus on expanding access to the disadvantaged communities through community solar, virtual net metering and inklusive financeing models.
Under environmental sustainability, eco-friendly technology will be promoted as solar panel recycling, land-nutrral solar diployments and hybrid clean energy models.
