Central government will give two crore houses to the poor through PM Awas Yojana

New Delhi, December 31 (IANS). The central government will provide additional two crore houses to the poor under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) between the financial year 2024-25 and the financial year 2028-29. The Rural Development Ministry said this in its annual review released on Tuesday.

According to the official statement, the cumulative target has been given to allot 3.33 crore houses to the states/UTs by December 30 this year, out of which 3.22 crore houses have been sanctioned and 2.68 crore houses have been completed.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had released the first installment to over 10 lakh PMAY-G beneficiaries through a single click at a national event on September 17.

According to the government, an e-KYC app integrated with Aadhaar and equipped with AI-enabled face authentication technology is being used to verify PMAY-G beneficiaries and prevent fraud.

As per the approval of the Union Cabinet, the rules have been changed to bring more people under the ambit of the scheme and provisions related to mechanized two-wheelers, mechanized fishing boats, landline phones and refrigerators have been removed from the conditions restricting eligibility. Has been removed.

Apart from this, now a person earning Rs 15 thousand per month is also eligible for the scheme. Earlier this limit was Rs 10 thousand per month.

PMAY-G has adopted new technology solutions for effective and transparent management of the scheme. With the implementation of the new phase, PMAY-G has introduced several features to maximize transparency in the process from identification of houses to completion of construction.

The scheme is being implemented and monitored through an end-to-end e-governance solution, ‘AwaasSoft’ and ‘AwaasApp’. ‘AwaasSoft’ provides functionality for data entry and monitoring of numerous statistics related to the implementation aspects of the scheme to ensure transparency. These data include physical progress, financial progress along with other information.

‘Awaas Plus 2024’ is a unique app specially designed under PMAY-G, which includes features like housing technology selection, face authentication, Aadhaar-based e-KYC, house data capture, status of existing house and construction details. Features include geo-tagged photo capture of the proposed location and existing house. The app works in online as well as offline mode. A “Self-Survey” feature is available for eligible households in the ‘Awaas+ 2024’ app survey for the next phase of PMAYG (2024-29).
