New Delhi, May 1 (IANS). The government said on Thursday that it will launch the depot mirror portal and mobile application on 20 May, which aims to ensure that the food storage depot meets the highest quality and performance standards.
The Food and Public Distribution Department (DFPD) said that the move will help depot managers to evaluate infrastructure, operation and financial performance in almost real time.
In addition to warehouses owned by FCI and CWC, about 2,278 warehouses, including warehouses rented from state agencies/private, will be included in this digital initiative.
Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Prahlad Joshi will formally inaugurate the depot mirror portal and mobile application on May 20.
According to the government, in this initiative the depot managers will be able to upload inputs of geo-tagged infrastructure available to their depot, which will make automated ratings and action points for timely improvement. The system ensures 100 percent verification by supervisory officers and third party audit.
The warehouses are evaluated on the basis of two main categories, with the first infrastructure. It includes safety standard, storage status, environment, technology adoption and statutory criteria and the second is operational efficiency that includes stock turnover, loss, location uses, manpower expenses and profits.
Each category is evaluated independently and the warehouse receives star rating based on the scoring of both parameters.
The depot mirror has been integrated with smart warehousing technology, which has produced a good digital monitoring ecosystem, with CCTV monitoring and IOT sensors, carbon dioxide and phosphine levels, fire threats, humidity, unknown entrances and temperatures, which makes a real -time monitoring, which makes a real -time security and efficiency in the security stor Is.
