New Delhi. The central government has issued a notice to cab service provider companies Ola and Uber. The government has asked both these companies why different taxi fares are shown to different mobile users for booking the same place. Consumer Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi has informed about the notice issued by the government through a social media post. Actually, this matter is related to showing different fares for iPhone and Android users on booking of the same place.
Such a case came to light when a social media user shared a post in December last month. In this post, the user had shared screenshots of two different phones, in which the company was allegedly charging different fares for the same location for cab booking on the Uber app. As soon as the user posted this post on social media, it went viral within no time. People started raising questions on Ola and Uber regarding this matter. However, seeing the issue gaining momentum, Uber company gave clarification in this matter. Uber had denied such allegations, calling them baseless. Now the Central Government, taking this matter seriously, has issued a notice to the company.
