CGS card
There is big news for government employees working in the central government. According to the Financial Express report, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has made major changes in CGHS (Central Government Health Scheme). According to the new guidelines of the ministry, if a regular monthly contribution is being deducted under CGHS from the salary of a government employee, it is mandatory to give him CGHS service card, even if he has not applied for the card.
The Ministry of Health has asked all the ministries and departments in the new circular to ensure that CGHS cards should be issued to employees whose salary is being deducted from salary. Memorandum states that in many cases employees do not apply for CGHS card, but their monthly contribution keeps cut. In such a situation, it is unfair to deprive them of CGHS facilities.
It is not necessary to apply separately for the card
The ministry has clarified that CGHS is a mandatory scheme and the contribution of employees whose residence comes in the CGHS dispensary sector automatically starts with their salary. In such cases, it will not be considered necessary to apply separately for the card. In addition, the Ministry of Health has directed administrative branches to ensure that CGHS cards are issued automatically to the concerned employees. In cases where employees fail to apply despite repeated notification, the responsible officer should be informed so that appropriate action can be initiated.
Government employees will get relief
Many central government employees are expected to get relief from this move who are contributing to CGHS but they have not received the related service card. It puts the responsibility of providing the facility to issue these cards on the department, which will remove bureaucracy obstacles in reaching health benefits. The amendment of CGHS card rules underlines its commitment to streamline the importance given by the government on employee welfare and streamlining procedures for better service distribution.
