New Delhi. L&T chairperson SN Subramanian is under fire over his statement advocating 90 hours of working week. Social media users are targeting Subramanian and criticizing him. People say that it is sad and unbelievable that people who are so educated and occupy the highest positions of big organizations are not taking mental health and mental comfort seriously. At the same time, seeing the growing controversy over this, now Subramanian’s company L&T has had to give clarification. The company has linked this statement to working harder for greater success.

The statement issued by the company said, ‘The core principle of our mandate at L&T is nation building. For more than eight decades, we have been engaged in improving the country’s infrastructure, industries and technical capacity. We believe that the coming 10 years belong to India and in these 10 years, everyone needs to work together to take the country’s development forward and build a developed nation. The statement given by our Chairman is inspired by his same sentiments. He has tried to convey through his statement that efforts for extraordinary results should also be extraordinary. At L&T we are committed to fostering such a culture. However, despite the clarification given by the company, people have not calmed down. Social media users are now trolling L&T along with Chairman Subramanian. One user said on the company’s clarification, more nonsense from L&T. Sidestepping the issue and playing the victim as if they were doing us all a huge favor.
What did Subramanian say?
L&T chairperson SN Subramanian had said that one should work for 90 hours a week. He had expressed regret that he was not able to get his employees to work on Sundays. Along with this, he had also said that it is better to work sitting in the office rather than staying at home on Sunday and staring at your wife.
