New Delhi, Sep 8 (IANS) The Indian government’s push on infrastructure, especially highways, has opened up a lot of growth opportunities for the hotel industry. “We are also looking for the right partners in India to expand our hospitality business,” Dimitris Manikis, EMEA president, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, said on Sunday.
Speaking to IANS, Manikis said, “With the improvement in road infrastructure and connectivity, more and more people are using roads for business and leisure purposes. This has led to the demand for good hotels on arterial roads in the country.”
“We can strategically expand our presence by developing hotels near major highways and major service stations, providing travellers with convenient and comfortable options for overnight stay,” Maniquis stressed.
He further added, “We aim to build such hotels which can provide reliable services and good ambiance to the traveling public and travellers.”
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, the world’s largest hotel franchise company, is set to launch its first luxury hotel, the Wyndham Grand, in Udaipur, India next year.
Currently, Wyndham has more than 40 hotels in the country and the company aims to increase their number. Last year has been the best ever for the company in India. During this period, the company’s income and occupancy rate saw an increase.
Maniquis further said that the future of India’s hospitality industry looks very good. The occupancy rate in the country is also increasing and new projects are also coming up.
He further said that from Wyndham’s point of view, we constantly want to expand our business in India. Looking at the growing demand for high quality and affordable segment in tier-2 and 3 cities, we are preparing to introduce budget and mid-segment hotels.
