Farmer Shekhar Yadav of Sahelia village in Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh is earning a good amount from radish cultivation. Shekhar cultivates radish every year. Due to this, they earn Rs 60,000 to Rs 70,000 in one crop.
Low cost and big profit in radish cultivation
Talking to Local 18, Shekhar said that he mostly cultivates vegetables. The reason for this is that the profit in vegetables is high. At present we have planted radish in about two bighas. There is always demand for radish in the market. If we look at the cost of this farming, it is very low. Profit is high. Shekhar told that if we talk about cost, the cost of one bigha is Rs 2,000. In this the profit reaches around Rs 60,000 to Rs 70,000. For radish cultivation, first of all plowing is done 3 to 4 times. Then after removing weeds from the field, a thick line of soil is made. Radish seeds are sown on these lines. Irrigation starts about a week after the plants emerge.

In India, many varieties of radish are grown in different places according to soil and climate. But among the varieties giving good production in short time, Pusa Himani, Pusa Desi, Pusa Chetki, Pusa Reshmi, Japanese White and Ganesh Synthetic etc. can be grown in Asian soils.
