New Delhi, 5 June (IANS). Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said on Thursday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Jammu and Srinagar railway line on 6 June. With this, the dream seen for decades about this railway line will be realized.
Vaishnav said that along with this railway line, the engineering point of view will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi.
The Union Minister said in a conversation with the media that PM Modi will flag off two Vande Bharat trains between Jammu and Srinagar during this period. These trains are specially designed for high altitude.
The Railway Minister further informed that Jammu station will serve as a transit station of passengers going to Srinagar. Passengers here will be able to board the high altitude train going to Srinagar.
The Union Minister further said that at present, work on number 5 and 6 platforms is going on at Jammu station, which will currently run between Katra to Srinagar, Vande Bharat Express going to Srinagar. The work of Jammu station will be completed in September, after which Vande India will be operated directly from Jammu to Srinagar.
The Union Minister described the Chenab Bridge on the Jammu and Srinagar railway lines as an engineering marble and said that it has been designed by winds up to 260 km per hour and the Cyrmic Zone 5.
Talking about the specialty of this bridge, he said that its design is quite complicated and its foundation is equal to half the football ground and has 30,000 tonnes of steel. Also said that it is the world’s highest railway Arch bridge.
The Railway Minister said that the Anji Bridge is also very important. There are many cable bridges on the highway, but the bridge with cable has been built for the first time in the railways.
Vaishnav further said that a large number of tunnels have been built on the Jammu-Srinagar railway line. There are 97 km of tunnels in the 111 km section of Katra to Banihal.
The Railway Minister further informed that work is also underway to make four terminals on the Jammu-Srinagar railway line, so that people can be facilitated in bringing and carrying goods.
