Employees Provident Fund Organization ie EPFO added 16.05 lakh new members in December, which is 9.69 percent more than November 2024. A statement by the Ministry of Labor said that pure payroll additions have increased by 2. 74 percent as compared to December 2023. According to PTI news, EPFO has released provisional payroll data for December 2024, showing a net addition of 16.05 lakh members. Statistics have shown that EPFO nominated around 8.47 lakh new customers in December 2024.
Increased number due to these reasons
According to the news, the ministry said that the involvement of new customers shows an increase of 0.73 percent from December 2023. It states that due to increasing employment opportunities, increasing awareness about employee benefits and successful outreach programs of EPFO, the number of members (employees who join jobs) has increased. The latest data also states that the maximum number of members joining is 18-25 age group. A total of 4. 85 lakh new customers were added to the age group of 18-25, which is 57. 29 percent of the total new customers added in December 2024.
So many members joined again
The net payroll joint for the 18–25 age group for December 2024 was around 6.85 million, which shows an increase of 16.91 percent compared to November 2024. This is according to the earlier trend which indicates that most of the people who are involved in the organized workforce are young, mainly job seekers for the first time. The payroll data highlights that around 15.12 lakh members exited the EPFO and later joined. This figure indicates an increase of 5. 10 percent compared to the previous month of November 2024.
Number of female members
The gender-wise analysis of parole data shows that about 2.2 million of the total new customers added during the month are 2 million female customers. This figure shows an increase of 6. 34 percent compared to December 2023. Also, pure female payroll growth during the month was around 3. 03 lakhs, which shows an increase of 4. 77 percent year-on-year compared to December 2023. The increase in the number of women members is a sign of widespread changes towards more inclusive and diverse workforce.
These states get the most opportunities
The payroll data suggests that the top five states/union territories constitute about 59. 84 percent pure payroll growth, which adds a total of 9.10 million pure parole during the month. Among all the states, during the month of Maharashtra, 21. 71 percent pure parole was ahead. Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Haryana, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Telangana personally added more than 5 percent of the total pure parole during the month. The parole data is provisional because data construction is a continuous practice, as updating the employee record is a continuous process. The previous data is updated every month.
