Decision of 'X' after government order, more than eight thousand accounts will be blocks in India

New Delhi, 9 May (IANS). The social media platform ‘X’ said on Thursday that the Government of India has asked him to block more than 8,000 accounts in the country to violate laws. ‘X’ has said to follow the country’s law.

The platform said in a statement without telling someone’s name that it includes “International News Organizations and Prominent X users”. The move is taken amidst the Indo-Pakistan struggle after the Pahalgam terror attack.

“X has received executive orders from the Government of India, which needs to block more than 8,000 accounts in India,” the statement said. Failure to do not do so includes possible penalty and imprisonment on local employees of the company. “

The statement said that the government has not given any evidence or justification to block these accounts in large numbers.

The X said that it would follow the order and stop the accounts only in India.

The X said the decision was “not easy”, but it started the process and sent “information information” to the affected users.

At the same time, the social media platform also expressed disagreement with the demands of the Government of India to block the entire accounts.

“It is similar to sensorship on existing and future content, and contrary to the fundamental right of free-spit,” the statement said.

The X said that this platform is important for Indians’ ability to reach information.

The statement said, “We believe that making these executive orders public is necessary for transparency. Not doing so can contribute arbitrarily to make decisions. However, due to legal sanctions, we are unable to publish executive orders at this time.”
