Beijing, January 19 (IANS). In the Tarim Oil Field, the largest extremely deep oil and gas production field in China, oil and gas production below 6,000 meters reached 24 lakh 70 thousand tons in the year 2024, which is a new record.
The Tarim oil field is said to be the largest oil and gas basin in China, where extremely deep oil and gas resources are abundant. As a newly developed major deep-ground natural gas production field, annual natural gas production at the Pochitapei gas field in the Tarim oil field has been growing rapidly for five consecutive years.
Now five deep and ultra-deep natural gas producing fields have been constructed in the Tarim oil field, where daily natural gas production exceeds 90 million cubic meters. Most of this natural gas is extracted from levels seven or eight thousand meters deep under the ground.
More than 50 wells with a depth of 8,000 meters or more were drilled in the Tarim oil field in 2024. China’s first exploration well of 10 thousand meters depth has become the second deepest well in the world and the deepest well in Asia. This shows that China has achieved great success in deep oil and gas mining.
