With this, HAL became the 14th company in the country to get Maharatna status. Let us tell you, on Saturday, the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) shared this information on social media platform X. DPE said that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has given approval to upgrade this PSU company to ‘Maharatna’ status.
Giving this information on social media platform X, the Department of Public Enterprises has written that the Finance Minister has given approval to upgrade Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) to Maharatna status. Earlier this proposal was given by the Inter-Ministerial Committee. Let us tell you, the annual turnover of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited is Rs 28162 crore. The net profit of the company during the financial year 2023-24 was Rs 7595 crore.

What is the benefit of getting Maharatna status?
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited will now have more freedom. There will be more relaxation strategically. The company can now invest Rs 5000 crore or 15 percent of the net worth in a single project without government approval. Like other Maharatna companies, now HAL will also get the freedom to do merger, acquisition and strategic investment in domestic and international markets.
