New Delhi, March 27 (IANS). Director General of External Affairs (DGFT) Santosh Kumar Sarangi said that despite global uncertainties, India’s exports will see an increase. He said that exporters should work wisely in view of the current global trade scenario.
According to him, the current geopolitical landscape offers a golden opportunity for the country as promoting India’s exports and manufacturing.
Sarangi said in an event that India’s exports of goods and services in the current financial year will increase from $ 778 billion in the previous year to cross $ 800 billion this year.
In the ‘Source India 2025’ program, Sarangi said, “Although we have been seeing a temporary decline in exports in recent months, our exporting community is assuring us that the number of orders they received is quite positive and I believe that our exports will increase compared to our current levels.”
He said that initiatives like production-linked incentive (PLI) are promoting ease of doing business and promoting domestic manufacturing.
Sarangi emphasized that ‘Source India’ plays an important role in improving ecosystem to promote India’s foreign trade, especially exports.
Apart from this, Sarangi said that the government is searching for new market access opportunities through free trade agreements (FTAs) with supplementary economies to promote exports.
Fio Director General and CEO Dr. Ajay Sahai emphasized that Source India will promote Indian brands export and trade relations and will be an important platform to open new opportunities for Indian businesses in global markets.
Fio acting president Ashwini Kumar emphasized the importance of direct connection between Indian exporters and international buyers, which aims to increase India’s trade worldwide.
With the participation of more than 150 global buyers from more than 45 countries, including areas such as Africa, CIS, EU, LAC, NAFTA, NEA, Oceania, SA, SEA and WANA, ‘Sourcex India 2025’ is an important platform for Indian exporters to connect with international markets.
