New Delhi, 22 June (IANS). The Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Sunday released a new Comprehensive Special Audit Framework to increase the security of the Indian Aviation sector.
The audit has been launched amidst increasing investigation of aviation safety standards after a recent Air India accident in Ahmedabad, Gujarat and aims to improve the country’s aviation safety system through data-operated, risk-based and globally lined approach.
The audit included various units of the aviation sector, including schedule and non-scheduled airlines, maintenance repair and overhal (MRO) organization, flight training organization (FTO), Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) and Ground Handling Agencies (GHA) etc.
The primary focus sectors of this Safety Audit Framework include Safety Management System, Operations Efficiency, Recharge Regulatory Infrastructure, and crew and resource management protocols.
These audit will be done by multi-disciplinary teams led by senior DGCA officials and will be supported by experts from directorates such as flight standard, air safety and licensing. Several methods including documents review, inspection, interview and data analysis will be used to assess compliance and safety culture. Audit security may be actively scheduled based on phenomena, non-compliance or risk profiles.
The findings of the audit will be classified into levels requiring corrective action within the specified deadline. According to this, action from warning to license suspension can be taken on the airline. Privacy will be maintained to encourage open reporting and promote a strong safety culture. Institutions may appeal to findings according to established regulatory procedures.
DGCA wants to set a global standard in the DGCA aviation safety inspection through this visionary, data-manual and collaborative audit model and ensure India’s continuous leadership in civil aviation security and stability.
