DGCA will change the rules for airline companies, know the complete update - India TV Hindi

Amidst the increasing demand for air travel in the country, DGCA will soon issue new and convenient rules for domestic airline companies to take planes on lease (Wet Leasing) with crew members. Due to the increasing number of air passengers in the country, airline companies are in need of new planes but due to supply chain problems they are not able to get the planes on time. Because of this, airline companies are taking planes on lease. A senior official associated with this matter told news agency PTI that efforts are being made to streamline the rules related to giving planes on lease with crew members to help in the development of the aviation sector in the country.

The number of new routes is continuously increasing

The official said, “The problems related to the plane’s engine cannot be resolved immediately and on the other hand, the number of possible air routes is also increasing continuously.” After consultation with stakeholders, DGCA is working on streamlining the rules for ‘wet-leasing’. Under current rules, DGCA does not have complete control over ‘wet-lease’ planes. Some restrictions have also been imposed in the case of ‘wet-leasing’ of planes for new or additional routes. The official said some restrictions will be removed to facilitate ‘wet-leasing’ of planes by domestic airline companies. Apart from this, all the flights and maintenance records of the concerned plane should also be handed over to DGCA.

Many Indigo planes out of service due to engine failure

Due to problems in the engines of Pratt & Whitney, the company providing plane engines, many IndiGo planes are not able to provide service at this time. The number of such airplanes is gradually decreasing. Usually during ‘wet-leasing’ of an aircraft, foreign planes are leased along with crew members, maintenance and insurance. Along with this, the plane is also under the operational control of the foreign operator and is also subject to the conditions of the foreign civil aviation authority. Another method of leasing an aircraft is ‘dry leasing’ in which only the aircraft is leased. Currently, IndiGo and SpiceJet are operating ‘wet-lease’ planes while Air India has some ‘dry-lease’ planes in its fleet.
