New Delhi. Air travel has gained wings under the Narendra Modi government and this has brought good days for domestic airlines companies too. On November 17, more than 5 lakh people traveled by domestic flights. This is the first time that such a large number of people have traveled by air in a single day. This number of more than 5 lakh passengers traveling by air in a day is a record in itself. Along with this, shares of InterGlobe Aviation (Indigo) and SpiceJet Airlines also saw an increase of 3 percent. These figures are a good sign for the aviation sector in India.

Giving information in this regard, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has written in a social media post, on November 17, 2024, a historic milestone was witnessed in the Indian skies, when 5,05,412 domestic passengers flew in a single day. It happened for the first time that the number of domestic air passengers crossed the 5 lakh mark in a day. India’s aviation sector is flying higher than ever, seamlessly connecting dreams and destinations.
It is noteworthy that the Modi government had started the UDAN scheme in the year 2016 to provide the common man of the country the opportunity to travel by air. The objective of this scheme is mainly to promote air connectivity by connecting small cities. Under this, flights are being started between such cities which take about 1 hour or less. Under this scheme, the price of air travel has been fixed at the rate of Rs 2500 per hour, so that everyone can take advantage of it and people’s time is also saved.
