Hajipur, September 2 (IANS). East Central Railway has seen a significant increase in income from all sources including freight from April to August of the current financial year 2024-25. During this period, East Central Railway has received an initial income of Rs 13,469 crore, which is 5.75 percent more than the initial income of Rs 12,737 crore received in the same period last year.
From April to August of this financial year 2024-25, 83.28 million tonnes of goods were loaded by East Central Railway, which is 2.46 percent more than the freight loading of 81.28 million tonnes done in the same period of last financial year.
Chief Public Relations Officer of East Central Railway, Saraswati Chandra, said on Monday that thus, from the total freight loading done from April to August, East Central Railway got an income of Rs 11,151 crore, which is 3.82 percent more than the income of Rs 10,741 crore received from freight loading done during the same period of last financial year.
He informed that a significant increase has been registered in the loading of maize, wheat and bauxite during April to August. As compared to 218 rakes of maize in the last year 2023, 368 rakes of maize were loaded till August 2024, which is an increase of 68.81 percent. Similarly, as compared to 19 rakes of wheat last year, 38 rakes of wheat were loaded till August 2024, which is an increase of 100 percent. As compared to 104 rakes last year, 124 rakes of bauxite were loaded till August 2024, which is an increase of 19.23 percent.
He further informed that from April to August of the current financial year 2024-25, about 102 million passengers traveled from East Central Railway zone, generating revenue of about Rs 2,059 crore, which is 16.91 percent more than the revenue of Rs 1,761 crore from passenger traffic during the same period of last financial year.
