Delhi Airport manages around 2.2 crore international passengers annually.
Dial, the operator of the Delhi Airport, said on Friday that the eastern winds are likely to run between April 26 and May 4, which may affect flight operations during this period. According to PTI news, in recent weeks, the flight was observed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) due to air traffic congestion, one runway shutdown and eastern winds.
Indian Meteorological Department forecast
According to the news, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) said that the Indian Meteorological Department’s forecast states that the eastern winds are expected to blow between 26 April to 4 May. This change in air patterns can affect flight operations during this period. Dial said on the social media platform that we are actively coordinated with airlines and ATCs to create a flight program to make a minimum impact on flight operations,
SpiceJet also expressed apprehension
Citing the forecast of IMD, SpiceJet said in a post on X that all departure, arrival and connecting flights could be affected. IGIA is the largest and busiest airport in the country, and movement of about 1,300 flights every day.
Delhi airport will increase capacity
The annual capacity of Delhi Airport will have to handle more than 2.4 crore international passengers in the next one or two years. Delhi Airport is working on more contact facility for Asia Pacific regions including Australia and New Zealand. Currently, Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) manages around 2.2 crore international passengers annually. The airport is talking to increase air connectivity for the Asia Pacific region including Australia and New Zealand.
Earlier, Dial recently announced the launch of bus service between the airport and Agra. The luxury bus service launched in collaboration with private bus operator Rigi Trans Tech Private Ltd. will run twice a day.
