Two wheeler manufacturing companies like TVS, Hero Motocorp, Ather and BMW are going to launch their EVs in the coming months. Meanwhile, Bullet maker Royal Enfield has announced that it is preparing to launch its electric bike. Siddharth Lal, Managing Director, Royal Enfield said that the range and features of electric bikes are being discussed according to the Indian market, production and global bike markets.
In August 2020, Vinod Dasari, Chief Executive Officer, Royal Enfield had confirmed that the Eicher-owned company is planning to enter the electric motorcycle segment. Only after that the company had mentioned electric bike manufacturing in the annual report 2020-21.

As per the announcements made by Vinod, the company has already prepared the prototype for the Royal Enfield electric bike and will start manufacturing the EV soon. Royal Enfield can launch this bike anytime in 2023. For this, research is going on in the company’s research in the UK. The process of this bike is expected to be completed soon and it can be launched by next year.
What can be the specialty
As per a report by India Car News, the bike could use a battery pack ranging from 8 kWh to 10 kWh and will be mated to an electric motor. Going by the current trends in the electric two-wheeler market, the power and peak torque of the bikes are expected to be around 40 bhp and 100Nm.
How will the design and features
Although no information has been given about its design and features yet, but it is expected that it can be similar to the Bullet model. Its design may also be similar. Apart from this, new features are likely to be added along with the old features.
