The Madhya Pradesh government has announced a major relief for employees and pensioners of all six power companies working under its Energy Department. Now about 1.82 lakh regular and contract personnel, pensioners and their dependent relatives will get the benefit of health services under cashless and contributory scheme. The scheme has been implemented by the state’s Energy Department, which will provide economic security in the field of medicine to thousands of families.
Who will get the benefit of the scheme?
The benefits of this scheme are under six power companies of Madhya Pradesh –
regular employee,
contract worker,
Pensioners,
And their dependent family will get.
The scheme will cover the cost of treatment of staff in a cashless form in the form of illness, accident or emergency, so that timely facility can be provided and the financial burden is also reduced.
How will the implementation of the scheme be done?
The Department of Energy has started the e-tender process for smooth implementation of the scheme. Under this, the implementation agency will be selected which will coordinate with the healthcare providers and will launch the scheme on the ground.
A pre-bid meeting will be held on July 24, in which interested agencies will discuss technical and commercial aspects of the scheme.
What is a contributory system?
This scheme will be contributable, that is, the employee and pensioner will have to contribute to a fixed amount in the scheme, while the remaining amount will be borne by the Department of Energy. In lieu of this amount, they will be provided cashless treatment facility in private and government hospitals.
Prominent medical expenses like various diseases, surgery, testing, hospitalization will be covered under the scheme.

Forward procedure
According to the officials of the Energy Department, after the completion of the tender process, the pilot rollout of the scheme can be done till August-September. It can also be expanded to other departments on the success of the scheme.
