New Delhi, 21 March (IANS). Energy will play an important role in meeting the target of India developed by 2047 and the availability of adequate transmission systems can maximize energy production. The statement was made by Union Minister for Energy and Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal on Friday.
Presiding over the meeting of the Parliamentary Advisory Committee of the Ministry, Manohar Lal said that the National Electricity Plan (NEP) has given details of the required transmission system to be added in the country during the period 2023 to 2032, which is in accordance with the increase in demand for electricity and production capacity in the country.
According to NEP-Transmission, there are plans to add about 1.91 lakh circuit kilometers (CKM) transmission lines and 1,274 GVA (Giga Volt Ampere) transformation capacity during a period of 10 years (2023 to 2032).
NEP-transmission has been prepared by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA). In this, the transmission scheme of 2031-32 has been covered.
In the high level meeting, the new technologies and cyber security were also discussed in the transmission.
The Union Minister directed the officials to take appropriate action to include the suggestions made by the members and give priority to the welfare of the people.

Manohar Lal said that our goal is to provide electricity to all at all times and to provide electricity to 100 percent houses across the country.
The Union Minister said that fossil -based power capacity has increased from 168 GW to 246 GW in January 2025 in 2014, which shows an increase of about 46 percent.
He further stated that non-Givash-based power capacity has increased from about 80 GW in 2014 to about 220 GW (until 31 January) in 2025, which is about 180 percent.
