New Delhi, March 22 (IANS). Secretary of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology S. Krishnan said that ‘startups’ are engines of innovation and economic development. The commitment to solve the real -world challenges of startups is shaping India’s future.
An autonomous body under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology is a female entrepreneurs in about 44 percent of the startups fonded by Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), many of which come from Tier 2 and 3 cities.
According to STPI Director General Arvind Kumar, under the Next Generation Incubation Scheme (NGIS) of the Ministry of IT, STPI has supported 685 startups, provided seed funding to 136 startups and has produced more than 7,000 jobs.
In the ‘STPI Sangam’ program in the national capital, S.K. Krishnan emphasized the important role of startups in shaping India’s economic future.
Krishnan said, “Through initiatives like NGIS and platforms like STPI Sangam, we are not only supporting startups, but also making an ecosystem where thoughts turn into impressive businesses. The government is committed to the funding of this landscape, scaling entrepreneurs, innovation and enabling India’s global competition.”
The program was also launched in collaboration with SGPGIMS Lucknow, STPI, AIMED and AMTZ. ‘Open Challenge Program (OCP) 6.0’ of STPI Meditech Center of Excellence (COE), Lucknow.
This initiative is designed to empower health-tech startups, which will help them to deal with real-world challenges in medical equipment, electronics and health informatics.
Kumar said, “Every startup, whether it is from metros or small cities, is entitled to a platform to grow. It is our responsibility to nurture their aspirations and provide them necessary resources.
