Ahmedabad, November 12 (IANS). The ambassadors of the European Union, Germany, Denmark and Belgium, who visited Gujarat, were amazed to see the size and scale of Adani Group’s renewable energy installations. The event, organized by Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani, took European diplomats on a tour of the group’s renewable energy installations in Gujarat. During this period, the delegation of diplomats also visited the group’s Khavda Renewable Energy Park. It is going to be the world’s largest renewable energy park with a capacity of 30 GW. It covers solar and wind energy projects over an area five times larger than the city of Paris.

The ambassadors also visited the company’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities at its flagship port, Mundra Port. Adani Group produces photovoltaic panels and wind turbines here. These are an integral part of the company’s strategy to achieve 45 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, in line with India’s decarbonization goals.

During the visit, Group Chairman Adani outlined the group’s ambitious plans to scale up green hydrogen production. It aims to meet the EU’s requirements for renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBO). The initiative is part of a $70 billion investment in green energy, including the development of the world’s largest solar power park in India.

The discussions held on this occasion emphasized the need to accelerate industrial decarbonization to combat climate change. European ambassadors commended Indian businesses, particularly the Adani Group, for their leadership in this transformational change. He highlighted the growing business-to-business cooperation between Indian and European companies in the sustainability and energy sectors.

This engagement underlines the strong partnership between the EU and India. An example of this is the EU-India Clean Energy and Climate Partnership. Established in 2016, the initiative promotes policy dialogue, innovation and technology sharing to promote clean energy and implement the Paris Agreement.

Strengthening economic ties through a comprehensive free trade agreement could boost employment opportunities and sustainable growth in both regions. Such an agreement would support India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative by promoting European investment in the green energy value chain.
