Electric cars were only 6 percent in 2024
According to a report by India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) and Customized Energy Solutions (CES), 12.3 crore electric vehicles (EVs) will be on the roads by 2032 by 2032. The report released on Tuesday said that this will strengthen India’s economy and support the 30 percent EV target for 2030. This rapid increase has been promoted by auxiliary government policies, such as the Fame-2 scheme, which provides a demand for capital subsidy for public charging infra as well as electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers and four-wheeler vehicles.
Electric buses will be 40 percent by 2030
It corresponds to the National EV target (NEV) scenario, which reflects the country’s commitment to promote environmentally friendly transport and reduce carbon emissions. The NEV scenario ‘EV 30 et 30’ is based on ambition, which is assumed that by 2030, EV’s access to electric two-wheeler and three-wheeler trains will reach 80 percent, 30 percent for private electric car, 70 percent for commercial cars and 40 percent for electric buses. This transport matches the NITI Aayog’s approach to electrification.
Electric cars were only 6 percent in 2024
The ‘India Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Market Overview’ report underlined the possible impact of this change on the country’s infra and energy landscape. The report reported that electric two -wheeler and three -wheelers stake in the EV segment on roads in India in 2024. In contrast, the stake of the electric car was about 6 percent, while the electric bus and truck stake were less than 1 percent. Remandable, the electric car segment has emerged as the country’s prominent driver of extended private and domestic charging ecosystem.
What is estimates for 2032
CES managing director Vinayak Valimbe said, “By the year 2032, IESA and CES estimate that the number of EVs on India’s roads can reach about 4.9 crore (in the worst position), 6 crore (general business) or 12.3 crore (in the best position).” According to the report, in 2024, there will be about 2,20,000 private cars (E4W) on the road, most of which will depend on the type-2 AC charger installed in residential areas.
