Festive season is expected to create 10 lakh additional employment opportunities: Report

New Delhi, Sep 15 (IANS) The upcoming festive season in India is expected to create 10 lakh additional employment opportunities. These will see an increase in the participation of gig and women workers. This information was given in a report.

The report said that the festive season could see a 35 per cent increase in white and blue collar jobs.

A report released by NLB Services, a company providing technology and digital talent solutions, said that in the gig economy, women’s participation is increasing in beauty and grooming, online tuition, domestic help, cab driving and food delivery.

Many industries such as retail, hotels, e-commerce, logistics, consumer goods, banking, financial services, insurance and retail are seeing job growth.

Of all these industries, e-commerce has seen the highest growth of 22 percent last year.

Sachin Alug, CEO of NLB Services, says that there is an increase in the demand for delivery drivers, customer service representatives, tech support experts and freelance engineers.

The report said that the salary for all these positions is between Rs 12,000 and Rs 16,000 per month. It may increase by 10 to 20 percent in the next three to four months.

The report said that the e-commerce sector may see an increase in sales during the festive season. Due to this, there will be an increase in the appointment of additional workforce on permanent and temporary basis.

Metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Kolkata may see a 15 per cent increase in seasonal jobs this time compared to last year.

Tier 2 cities like Nagpur, Jaipur, Vadodara, Kochi, Vizag, Madurai, Lucknow, Gurugram, Chandigarh, Indore, Coimbatore, Surat, Bhubaneswar and Bhopal may see a growth of 20 to 25 percent in jobs.
