Dehradun, 19 May (IANS). The 16th Finance Commission delegation visited Uttarakhand on Sunday and discussed all the development issues with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami wrote on the social media platform, “The delegation of the Commission led by Dr. Arvind Panagariya ji, Chairman of the 16th Finance Commission at the government residence, welcomed the delegation of the commission. On this occasion various points related to the development of the state were discussed with him.
Chief Minister Dhami said that various points related to the development of the state were discussed with the delegation.
The Finance Commission team consisted of Annie George Mathew, Manoj Panda, Soumya Kantighosh, Commission Secretary Ritwik Pandey, Joint Secretary KK Mishra and Joint Director P. Amritvarshini.
On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, Principal Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu, Secretary Finance Dilip Javalkar and Finance Department officials were present.
An official said that the state government will propose its proposal before the Finance Commission on Monday in a meeting to be held in the Secretariat under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami.
The Finance Commission will also hold a meeting with municipal bodies, panchayat representatives and representatives of political parties.
Let us tell you that on May 8, the Maharashtra government held a meeting with the 16th Finance Commission and expressed concern over the reduction in the ratio of grants to the states from the Center. In 2022-23, the grant received from the central government was Rs 51,414 crore, which declined to Rs 36,045 crore in 2023-24 and in 2024-25 further to Rs 31,830 crore.
