Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman spoke to students of Ramakrishna Mission Ashram School in Meghalaya

New Delhi, 13 July (IANS) Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday visited the Ramakrishna Mission Ashram School in Sohra, Meghalaya and interacted with students, teachers and employees. He also spoke about the continuous participation of the government in education and livelihood initiatives in the northeastern region.

During his visit, Finance Minister Sitharaman reviewed various facilities in the school, including sewing and knitting centers operated under the Self -reliance Alternative Livelihood Unit (Salute) initiative.

He appreciated efforts to provide skill-based training and alternative livelihood opportunities through such centers.

The Finance Minister was accompanied by Swami Anuraganand, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission.

He visited the campus and spoke to the school community, and appreciated the positive role of the institute in the development of the region.

The post by the office of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on the social media platform X said that he had a conversation with 90 -year -old Kong Lolin Lindem, one of the most poignant moments of the visit, who had both studied and teaching in Ramakrishna Mission Ashram School.

Finance Minister Sitharaman spoke to him and appreciated his long association and contribution with the school.

In addition, on Friday, Union Finance Minister Sitharaman inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of several major projects worth Rs 1,087.81 crore in Meghalaya on Friday.

Speaking at the public event held at the Lariety International Performance Arts and Culture Center earlier this week, Finance Minister Sitharaman K. K. K. The continuous progress and visionary leadership of Meghalaya under the leadership of Sangma praised.

Highlighting the cooperation of the Center, the Finance Minister said that Meghalaya has been allocated a total of Rs 5,400 crore under the Special Assistance Scheme for capital investment.

Appreciating the effective use of funds, he said, “I am happy that the government has effectively used the amount for capital assets. I want to appreciate the efforts of Meghalaya. Fidiliaries are being fully used. Some states have difficulty using their share, but Meghalaya has made maximum use of its allocation.
