Foreign portfolio investors (FPI) have confidence in the Indian stock market. The FPI has invested Rs 18,620 crore in Indian shares so far this month amidst global favorable conditions and strong domestic infrastructure. Earlier in April, he put Rs 4,223 crore in shares. This was his first net investment in Indian shares after three months. Foreign portfolio investors had withdrawn Rs 3,973 crore from shares in March, Rs 34,574 crore in February and Rs 78,027 crore in January.
Investment of Rs 18,620 crore this month
VK Vijaykumar, the main investment strategist at Jiojit Investment, said that FPI’s purchase in the Indian market is likely to continue. In such a situation, shares of big companies will be strengthened. According to depository data, foreign portfolio investors have invested Rs 18,620 crore in shares so far this month (till 16 May). Thus, in 2025, his total withdrawal has come down to Rs 93,731 crore. In April, the Indian stock market saw a sharp jump in FPI activities. The process of their shopping started in mid -April continues.
FPI’s investment in Indian market increased
Associate Director of Morningstar Investment – Manager Research Himanshu Srivastava said, “FPI’s investment in the Indian market has increased after peace between India and Pakistan.” He said that a sense of risk has also improved globally after 90 days of consent on tariffs between the US and China. With this, foreign investors are once again transferring their funds to emerging markets like India. According to the data, the FPI has withdrawn Rs 6,748 crore under the normal limit from the bond during the period under review and invested Rs 1,193 crore from voluntary retention.
